ECOSS:

ECOSS, Ecotourism Conservation Society of Sikkim is the result of a group of like-minded people getting together to accomplish a mission. A mission that seeks to see that there is a thorough and correct understanding of the concept of 'ECOTOURISM' and that this cannot be viewed without realizing the very nature of 'CONSERVATION'. ENVIS CENTRE SIKKIM ON ECOTOURISM:

Environmental Information System (ENVIS) is a plan programme of the Ministry of Environment and Forest Government of India. ENVIS is a decentralized system using the distributed network of databases to ensure integration of national efforts in environmental information collection, storage, retrieval and dissemination to all concerned including policy planners, decision makers, research workers and the public.

The ENVIS Centre Sikkim on Eco-tourism was inaugurated by the then Governor of Sikkim Shri Kedar Nath Sahani at Gangtok, Sikkim on September 27, 2001. This Centre is the 25th to have been established in the country so far and would be functioning in cose collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Sikkim. Subequently EMCBTAP-ENVIS Node was established in September 2002.For details log on to. www.scstsenvis.nic.in

ATREE

In 1996, Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) was founded in an effort to address the environmental challenges facing India.ATREE is unique as it utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to address issues of environmental degradation and economic development.Using principles of natural and social sciences, ATREE strives to conserve biodiversity and promote sustainable development while seeking to advance the protection of the environment. HELP TOURISM:

Help Tourism is an organization working to bridge tourism with conservation in the East and North East India. Established in 1991, we have been able to identify and promote destinations based on ecotourism guidelines.
